Yes, argan oil expires

Like any plant oil, it can oxidize. Oxidized oil often smells rancid: harsh, unpleasant, different from the batch’s original scent. Follow the best-before date and/or PAO (period after opening) on the label.

If the smell is doubtful, do not “recycle” the bottle on the face: stop cosmetic use.

How to store the bottle

• Away from direct light and strong heat.
• Bottle tightly closed after each use.
• Stable room temperature rather than a sunny windowsill.
• Avoid leaving the dropper in a dusty environment.

Comedogenic: what we can say without a fake number

The “is argan oil comedogenic” debate mixes non-standard internet lists and personal experience. At Biomedica we say: it depends on the skin. An oil may suit dry skin and bother very oily or breakout-prone skin if the dose is too high.

On oily or combination faces: start with half a drop at night, dry zones only. Patch-test 48 hours on a small area. If unusual redness, spots or discomfort: stop and seek advice if needed.

Pores and over-dosing

“Clogs pores” is often the feel of a greasy film, not necessarily a proven anatomical blockage. Less product, better spread, clean skin: simple rules. Do not stack oil + heavy cream + makeup without letting the ritual breathe.

After opening: is one year too long?

It depends on the batch PAO, storage and how often you open it. A bottle opened often in heat oxidizes faster than a closed bottle in moderate cool. Follow the label; if the smell is off, discard rather than force it.
