What argan does (and does not) on colored hair

After color, lengths often feel more porous and rough. A cosmetic argan micro-dose can soften and add perceived shine. It does not replace a colorist’s professional care, does not “rebuild” fiber like salon keratin, and does not guarantee pigment hold.

We make no claims like “protects color for X weeks” or “keratin equivalent”. Honest cosmetics: comfort and finish.

Before heat: light film, not a marinade

Before a dryer, straightener or curling iron, aim for a veil on mid-lengths and ends — never a sticky layer that smokes or flats the hair.

1. Towel-dried or dry hair, matching your usual styling habit.
2. 1 to 3 drops by length (fine: 1; long / thick: 2–3), warmed between palms.
3. Distribute mid-lengths → ends; skip the root if it gets shiny fast.
4. Comb or detangle, then style at your usual heat — do not raise temperature “because there is oil”.

Too much oil + hot tool = heavy hair and a heated-oil smell. Reduce. Richer pre-poo (no heat): argan oil pre-shampoo hair mask.

After heat: seal the feel

Half a drop to one drop on the ends after styling can calm surface frizz and a straw-like feel without collapsing volume. It is a finish, not a second heavy coat.

Wash day: conditioner and argan

On colored hair, gentle detangling matters as much as oil. The argan detangling conditioner helps the comb through; pure oil stays a finish afterward, not a rinse substitute. Do not stack leave-in conditioner + 5 oil drops “to compensate”.

Permanent color: honest limits

Argan is not medical post-color care and not a chemical pigment sealer. If your colorist prescribes a dedicated line, follow it. Biomedica cosmetic oil may be added as a finish after tolerance.

Common mistakes

• Flooding roots before the iron → flat roots, still-dry ends.
• Using culinary argan on hair (toasted smell, wrong use).
• Raising iron temperature thinking oil compensates — oil does not authorize more heat.
• Confusing a sensory film with a “labelled heat protectant”.
